The ease of posting to Facebook and tweeting on Twitter means that I don't get around to blogging very often. It's been over one year since I last wrote, and in that time, I've done four roles (with another one coming up in a week), sung in two oratorios, performed on a couple of recitals, added a new college to my teaching load, given a workshop on musical theater technique, and moved.
I'm going to write about the process of getting back into opera and how it's not like riding a bike. It's work, and I definitely am out of the practice of preparing a role. And that will be the subject of my next blog, which will probably be after the show opens and closes (unlike musical theater, which usually has extended runs, opera tends to be a single weekend).
But I'm still here, and I hope to start writing again.
